The REAL Story Behind Princess Charlotte's Bonnet

The gorgeous hand knitted off-white bonnet that covered the adorable head of our new Royal Princess was a present from her nanny.

Sources tell us that the bonnet was bought from a small Spanish city by the Duchess of Cambridge’s live-in Spanish nanny Maria Teresa Turrion Borrello.

Two sisters own the 82 year old shop and had no idea that the hand knitted bonnet and it's matching coat and shoes were for Princess Charlotte.

“It was bought as part a matching outfit that included a little coat and shoes but it was impossible to tell if she had them on as they were covered up by the blanket wrapped over her.”

“She didn’t know if the child was going to be a boy or a girl so she didn’t buy anything that was pink or blue. “Everything she bought was white or beige," the sisters' said.

The shop, in San Sebastian’s old town, was opened by the current owners’ grandmother. It sells women’s lingerie and bed-linen as well as baby’s clothes.
Previous clients have included the Duchess of Alba, Spain’s richest woman and Bruce Springsteen also took time out of a concert performance in the city to visit the shop with his wife.

There has been much speculation as to whether the bonnet was put on back to front or not by the Duchess of Cambridge. We're not too sure about that as it looked mighty cute to us. What we do know is that it has sparked a whole new demand for hand knitted baby clothes. Even Prince George wore a hand knitted jumper to visit his new little sister with his Dad, Prince William.

www.angelfishdragonfly.com.au has a limited range of clothing and accessories, hand knitted here in Australia and exclusive to us.
